Things to do in Atlanta: Nickelodeon’s Slime City

When Nickelodeon offered VIP access to their new pop-up, Slime City, I was SO excited!

Like most of you reading this blog, I grew up in the peak of 90’s Nickelodeon and the iconic green slime was EVERYWHERE. I was slimed once as a kid at Universal Studios, but of course I don’t *fully* remember it, so I was excited at the potential of reliving the 90’s for an afternoon.

Located in the old World Market next to Disco Kroger, Slime City is a pop-up that just opened June 15th and will stick around through September. It’s definitely geared towards kids, but adults of all ages can definitely have fun too!

The whole purpose of“Slime City” is a way for Nickelodeon fans and their parents – who also likely grew up watching Nick shows – to live through what they’ve been seeing on the screen for years. And you DEFINITELY get immersed in the Nickelodeon experience, including getting to hold a real Kids’ Choice Award blimp for a photo-op, which was my 8 year old dream come true.

Much like other Atlanta pop-ups (Santa’s Fantastical and Candytopia), there are a TON of photo-ops, so get your camera ready and warn your Instagram followers about all the slime spam they are about to experience!

Slime City is $30 for a tour (includes a group sliming experience). If you want the solo sliming like I experience in the video below, spring for the VIP package. It’s an extra $30. If you have kids who love slime, the slime lab add-on is a must! It’s an extra $12, but kids can make their very own customized slime, complete with sequins and googly eyes!

Things to note:

  • Wear shorts or a short dress when getting slimed. Your pants will get drenched otherwise and that sounds absurdly uncomfortable in this Georgia heat!
  • They give out ponchos for sliming, but some might get on your clothes. Don’t worry- it’s 100% washable!
