If you spend any time at all in the “bloggersphere” side of the Internet, you’ve probably heard the term self care thrown around in many different ways. Being that today is International Self-Care Day, I want to share with you guys what I’ve learned about self care recently.
A lot of people think “self care” is just about the perfect bath bomb cocktail for an Instagram picture, the right face mask, or lighting candles and capturing the perfect Boomerang for your IG story. (Your girl is guilty of all that by the way)
With my cancer diagnosis, I’ve learned that self care can be so much more. It’s investing time in yourself and whatever it is that makes you happy. Buying a new cute dress can be self care, spending time with a friend you haven’t seen in forever over coffee or FaceTime can be self care. Honestly, it’s doing whatever makes your soul feel good whatever that may be.
Lately, for me, it’s been listening to the same Ariana Grande song on repeat in the car and singing at the top of my lungs or spending time actually reading a book and letting myself get lost in the story.
